A Light That Cannot Be Extinguished

A Light That Cannot Be Extinguished

Last night I attended our annual women's conference at church, and I left carrying something I hadn't brought with me.

Freedom.

The guest speaker shared a message about the light God places inside of His people. She reminded us that no matter what we have been through, no one can take away the light God has given us.

As she spoke, I couldn't help but think about my children's book, Keepers of the Light.

When God first placed that story on my heart, it wasn't just about a lantern or an adventure. It was about something much deeper. It was about the light of Christ that lives within us through the Holy Spirit. A light that continues to shine even when life has been difficult.

A light that survives hardship.

A light that survives disappointment.

A light that survives seasons when we feel forgotten.

At the end of the message, the speaker invited women forward for prayer—women carrying wounds from trauma, abuse, and painful experiences from their past.

At first, I stayed in my seat.

I felt hesitant. Ashamed. Vulnerable.

But deep inside, I felt the Lord gently nudging me forward.

"Go receive your healing."

So, I stood up and walked to the altar.

As prayer was spoken over me, I felt something I can only describe as heavy chains being lifted away. The same freedom I experienced when I fully surrendered my life to Christ in 2022 seemed to wash over me again.

God was reminding me that healing is not a one-time event.

He continues to restore.

He continues to redeem.

He continues to set His children free.

Sometimes we carry things for so long that they begin to feel like part of who we are. But God never intended for shame, fear, or brokenness to define us.

His light is stronger.

His presence is greater.

His love reaches deeper.

When I left that conference, I carried with me the sweet lingering awareness of God's presence. It was peaceful. Gentle. Holy.

And today I want to remind you of the same truth that spoke so deeply to my heart:

No matter what you have been through, God's light still shines within you.

The world may try to dim it.

Pain may try to hide it.

Fear may try to silence it.

But what God has placed inside of you cannot be taken away.

Let your light shine.

Not because your story is perfect.

But because His grace is.

"You are the light of the world." — Matthew 5:14
